Erin Weeks first began writing poetry when she was thirteen years old. Doesn’t every thirteen-year-old? She loved the process, but didn’t take it very seriously until around 2018 when she started her first year of college.
Poetry became a way to document the things that were happening to her, and the things that had happened to her a long time ago. It felt like a word puzzle, and if she could put the pieces together just right, it would help her transform complicated emotions into tangible thoughts.
Origins of My Love was Erin’s first chapbook, published in 2022 by Bottlecap Press.
Since then, she has been dedicated to learning more about the craft and finding new ways to make sense of the world through the written word.
Erin is a native of South Carolina and finds joy in using poetry to capture what it feels like to grow up in rural America.
Outside of poetry, she works as a journalist for The Aiken Standard out of Aiken, SC.
When she isn’t writing for fun or writing for work, you can find her snuggling with her cat – they are most likely watching a scary movie together.
